HCBC - Celebrate Sunflowers Letterpress Card

Updated: May 30, 2020

This will be a short post to showcase a fun card made with one of my Stampin' Up pre-order items - the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and dies bundle. This and all other new catalog items will be available on 6/3/20. This card was delivered to my amazing crafty friend Elaine Schader; who also happens to be an amazing up-line. Here's to celebrating her and all the amazing sunshine she shares through her crafts.

Check out my instagram post to see fun time-lapse videos of the creation process.

I'm entering this card into a few card-making challenges - I was inspired by

• SUOC #249- Celebrating Women - theme/sentiment of the card

• TSOT #457 Sketch Challenge for the card layout

I also used an amazing technique from Jennifer McGuire Ink's tutorials. How to use your dies to make Faux Embossing Folders. Since the sunflower was a different style die than what she used in the tutorial I had to tweak the tutorial steps to make this work with the Sunflower dies from Stampin' Up. I look forward to trying this technique with the Butterfly Beauty dies as well.

UPDATE: If you're an avid crafter, you've probably already figured the general way to accomplish this. As a reminder, I'm using a Cuttlebug, and every machine is different, many variables including older vs. newer machines, different brand embossing machines, etc. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

The little sunflower on the "Thanks A Bunch card" was colored with alcohol markers, and the sunflower on the "Let's Celebrate You" was colored with the Stampin' Up Aqua Painter and water-based inks.
