Playing with Inks - Autumn Card

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

Today’s post is showcasing a card designed as a swap from our monthly team meeting, was inspired the JustAddInk #518 challenge "Just Add T". My "T" aspects are the "Thanks" sentiment and the “Texture” added using the "Tasteful Textiles" embossing folder.

Techniques used included water coloring, ink splattering, ink blending, die-cutting, dry embossing, and rubber stamping.

Check out my instagram post for this card to see five time-lapse videos of the creation/assembly.

Card Creation/Assembly Instructions:

Check out the time lapse videos on Instagram:

  1. Background: 4x5.25" - Ink-blending the background using dye ink (Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody) and then added ink splatters using the water painters. Once dried, run the paper through with the Tasteful Textiles embossing folder.

  2. Colored paper for die cutting: Starting with shimmer paper, spray the paper with water (I used Water Spritzers) and add drops of ink refills (Pear Pizzazz, Cherry Cobbler, Mango Melody). Tilt the paper around to spread the ink around and use a tissue to soak up excess. If the paper is to warped after drying from the water/ink, run it through parchment paper through a laminator.

  3. Manual Die-Cutting: I then used the die cuts from CelebrateSunflowers, GatherTogether, ForeverFern to emboss and cut the leaves.

  4. I applied ink from two separate ink pads to the clear photopolymer sentiment stamp before applying it to the paper.

  5. I used Stamp n' Seal, dimensionals and mini glue dots to assemble the card.
