I love using my Cricut Maker and the Design Space application to cut just about any image I can dream up. This cake topper was for my friend‘s son’s 1st birthday. She gave me complete creative control; she only provided the colors of the cake (previously planned with the bakery).
I popped on over to Pinterest and Etsy and the Mr. ONEderful cake toppers caught my eye, so I decided to design one myself in Keynote. Once I selected the fonts and was happy with the sizing, I took a screen shot of the words and imported it into Design Space. Tip: I use Preview to remove the white background which makes it easier to upload into Design Space.
When I need an outline to text, I use Silhouette Studio's offset feature. Unfortunately Cricut Design Space hasn't incorporated that yet into the software yet.
The In The Stars challenge from “BittenByTheBug2” inspired me to add some 3D stars, and it really made the cake pop. In a Google search, I found several images/dies when I searched for 3D stars. Using the images as inspiration, I created my own custom 3D design for the front of the stars. I welded together various basic shapes such as Stars, Rectangles, Triangles, and scored lines to create the final cut image.

Thank you very much Kim! The dimension of the stars really made the topper display ‘pop’
Wow. What a professional looking presentation. Love those puffy stars. Thanks for joining the challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2.
